Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 1, 2026
Overview
CiteLite is a free, browser-based citation generator. We designed it to work without accounts, sign-ups, or server-side storage. This policy explains what limited data is involved when you use the site and how advertising cookies work.
Information We Do Not Collect
- We do not require or offer user accounts, and we never ask for your name or email address.
- The citation details you type (authors, titles, URLs, dates) are processed in your browser and are never stored on our servers. If you use Quick URL Auto-Fill, the URL you paste is sent from your browser to the third-party Microlink metadata API to retrieve publicly available page metadata; we do not receive or retain that request.
- Your session bibliography exists only in your browser's memory and is discarded when you close or reload the page.
Advertising and Cookies (Google AdSense)
CiteLite is supported by advertising. We use Google AdSense to display ads, and the following disclosures apply:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
- You may opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. Alternatively, you can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising by visiting www.aboutads.info/choices.
- Third-party ad vendors and ad networks may also serve ads on this site; their use of cookies is subject to their own privacy policies.
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, a consent message may be shown before personalized ads are served, in accordance with applicable law.
Analytics and Log Data
Our hosting provider may automatically record standard technical information such as IP address, browser type, and pages visited for security and performance monitoring. This data is not used to identify individual users.
Children's Privacy
CiteLite does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. The service requires no personal information to use.

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date.
