Overview

CiteLite (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates getcitelite.com, a free browser-based citation generator. This Privacy Policy explains what information is involved when you use the site, how advertising technologies such as Google AdSense work, and the choices you have. By using CiteLite, you acknowledge this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the service.

Information We Do Not Collect

• We do not require user accounts and do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or payment details to use the citation tools.
• The citation details you type (authors, titles, URLs, dates, DOIs) are processed locally in your browser and are not stored on CiteLite servers.
• Your session bibliography exists only in browser memory and is discarded when you close or reload the page unless you export it yourself.

Information Processed on Your Behalf

If you use Quick URL Auto-Fill, the URL you paste is requested from your browser to a third-party metadata service (currently Microlink) to retrieve publicly available page metadata. CiteLite does not operate that API and does not retain the request payload on our servers. Third-party services process data under their own privacy policies.

Advertising, Google AdSense, and Cookies

CiteLite is supported by advertising so the citation tools and educational guides can remain free. We use Google AdSense to display ads on pages that also contain substantial publisher content (guides, FAQs, and articles). We do not place Google-served ads on empty states or utility-only screens without surrounding content.

Regarding cookies and personalized advertising:

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website or other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables Google and its partners to serve ads based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
• Cookies may store or access identifiers on your device, measure ad performance, and limit how often you see an ad. Some cookies are set by Google domains; others may be set by additional ad partners participating in Google's ad ecosystem.

California residents may have additional rights under the CCPA/CPRA regarding personal information collected by third-party advertising technologies; we do not sell personal information for money, but advertising cookies can constitute “sharing” under some laws—use the opt-outs described above to limit personalized ads.

Analytics and Log Data

Our hosting provider may automatically record standard technical logs such as IP address, browser type, referring URLs, and pages visited for security, reliability, and performance. This operational data is not used by CiteLite to build marketing profiles of individual visitors.

Children's Privacy

CiteLite does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction). The service does not require personal information to generate citations. If you believe a child has provided personal information through advertising technologies on the site, contact us so we can help direct you to the appropriate vendor controls.

International Visitors

CiteLite may be hosted in the United States or other locations. If you access the site from outside the hosting region, your technical information may be processed in countries with different data-protection laws. Advertising partners may also process data globally subject to their policies and applicable transfer mechanisms.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. Continued use of CiteLite after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
